“…..Baum approaches the themes in an impressionistic manner. He imagines the object as a light- vision without construction, without principles and laws of columns, beams and loads. By using a network of lines he describes the surface of his spaces, but than he increases distance, steps back and plays with abstract tools like light-/ dark zones and lighting and shadow rhythms.
…..it becomes almost impossible for the visitor to recognize the object, especially in those paintings where Baum chooses to play with macro adjustment and extreme close extracts. If one tries to describe Baum’s work with expressions like “spiritual” or “vision”, than he will find a mystic process in those paintings, the process of deconstruction and dematerialisation into energetic flows and radiation….”
